Dear Pembroke Family,

As our school, community, state, and country deal with the impacts of the COVID-19 virus it seems prudent to make the inevitable decision of rescheduling the Opening Ceremony of the Veterans’ Wall of Honor and C. Jay Hall Commemoration. Although we are not sure that school will still be closed on May 3rd, it is a distinct possibility. Even more so, there were to be many veterans, family members, and community members over the age of 60 who were planning on attending. I also know that many people were making travel plans to come to the celebration. For these and other reasons, we will be rescheduling the event for some time early next school year.

The amount of planning that has gone into this event is tremendous and I fear that if the plug is pulled at the last second, it would actually make putting the event on this fall much harder. The response from applicants, the community, and kids in the Veterans Outreach Club has been so positive and I believe that this spirit of celebrating Pembroke’s heroes will continue into the start of the new school year.

I will do my best to get the word out about the rescheduling as soon as possible. Please help to spread the word that the Opening Ceremony will now take place in the fall as our country moves past this episode.

Please stay safe, healthy, and look out for your family and neighbors.

Sincerely,

Pembroke Veterans Outreach Club
