ISS Space Contact

In a rare and unique opportunity, several Pembroke students made contact with astronaut David Saint-Jeaques on the International Space Station (ISS) via amateur radio.

Pembroke was one of only seven schools worldwide selected for this round of contacts, which took place on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 10:28 a.m. in the auditorium of the Jr./Sr. High School.

This activity is part of the Amateur Radio on the International Space Station Program (ARISS), which promotes learning opportunities as part of the Science, Technology, Education, and Math (STEM) initiative. This unique experience provided an educational opportunity for Pembroke students to learn about wireless technology and radio science through amateur radio.

Thank you to all that made this possible. Special thanks to Mrs. Payne-Smith for all of her hard work!
