10th Grade

In your 10th grade year it is really important to start thinking about what interests you. It is never to early to start thinking about jobs and careers and we have many ways to help you get more information about career that might be of interest to you.

In 10th grade you should be sure to check out any Career Speakers who come into school to give a presentation in the Library about their career during lunch period.

You should also be signing into CHOICES and use the online program to explore career options.

Once you've identified jobs that you find interesting, you should go on a Job Shadow. This is when you are paired up with a professional in the career you are interested in and follow them around their job for the day.

In your 11th grade year you will have the chance to take part in a BOCES career and technical program, such as Cosmetology, Building Trades, Electronics, etc (click here for a complete listing of BOCES programs). In Nov. of 10th grade you can go to BOCES on a Field Trip and get to learn about each program that is offered. Be sure to listen for announcements and sign up in the Counseling Center.

You can also find a great deal of information by just going online. Below you will find several videos describing a variety of different jobs and careers. Enjoy!
